Have you ever wondered if your actions please God? Have you ever faced a situation and wondered what does God want me to do? All scripture is God breathed and it’s useful for teaching, rebuking and correcting and training in righteousness. Teaching is doctrine or right believing. Rebuking is reproof, chastening. Hebrews 12:6 says that the Lord disciplines the one he loves and chastens everyone He accepts as His son. If God is reproving you about something, it’s because He loves you. Correcting is setting you back on course, like a ship at sea. It’s not enough for God to chasten and reprove you, He wants you back on course. Look for that course reset. Don’t just stay where you are and make the same mistakes. Change, do something different. If you continue to get the same test, change what you’re doing and pass that test.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV)
The Bible is called the Word of God because it’s like a straight line of communication from the Lord which was given by the Holy Ghost. (BIblestudytools) The Bible isn’t something a person made up. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Consider the prophet Jeremiah (15:16), when God’s Word came, it wasn’t something Jeremiah made up. When Jeremiah received God’s words, he devoured it. God’s Words were Jeremiah’s joy and heart’s delight.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:21 KJV)
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty. (Jeremiah 15:16 NIV)
The Holy Spirit has all knowledge. The Bible says, “The Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10). It is the Holy Spirit who teaches us and takes us deeper and deeper into God’s truth as we go along in our Christian life. (Billy Graham-Decision Magazine) Brethren, His Word is truth. If you want the deeper things of God, you will need to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you. I believe God can take us further than we ever thought possible. Job 37:14 tells us to stand still (be quiet and listen) and consider (think about it) God’s wonderous works. Job, are you listening? Are you listening to the Holy Spirit? Have you noticed all this? There’s a hymn that says: God’s Word is wonderful, perfect and true.
Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth. (John 17:17 HCSB)
“Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God. (Job 37:14 ESV)
Let’s talk about devouring the Word of God. 2 Timothy 2:15 says to study the Word of God. It says that we are workmen. It uses the words rightly-dividing the Word of Truth.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)
Brethren, when you first accepted Jesus, where did you begin studying the Word? What’s a good book to begin your studies? Did you understand the Bible right away, or did it take a while? For me, it took a while, and I had to find a version that I could understand. I began to compare versions.
