Hello everybody.  I became a Christian this year and one of the things I am curious about is whether or not it matters what denomination of Christianity you are. I live near two churches, one is Catholic and the other is of the Church of England, and I'm not which one I should go to. I am aware of many differences between different denominations, but I don't know whether or not there is a 'right or wrong' when it comes to this.

I've seen videos online saying negative things about different types of Christians, and the main thing that is often mentioned is that Catholics supposedly practice idolatry, and this displeases God. Is this true? Or does God see all Christians as equal regardless of whatever denomination they follow?

I do not mean any offence to anyone by asking these questions.

  • What about Romans 8:1-7, I have never heard anybody preached or debate about those verses. I know that Romans 8:4, Paul is talking to me. And Romans 8:7, he is talking to an other believer. If I'm wrong help me, but is I'm right stop taking verses here and there, and makes an other story far from the original.

    • Michael, I am really not sure what you are saying here, you say that Romans 8:4 is for you, but that Romans 8:7 is for everyone else.  I don't understand how you make the difference between what is for you and what is for others.  If you disregard a verse as not being for you, it would seem that you are being very arogant, that "This applies to others, not me."

The whole passage is has a very simple and straight forward message and is a warning to us all.  The passage restates that we do not have to suffer death as a result of breaking God's law, which does not mean that the law has been abolished [Matthew 5:17], for those in Christ.  It goes on to say that being of the flesh is not acceptable to God, that we should be spiritual minded and is opposed to God.

      • It is very clear that Sunday keepers declared that Jesus Christ dead on the cross has put an end to God's Law. And they used the books of Paul like, Romans, Galatians ... to defend their beliefs. Why I used Romans 8:4 is because the most Christians believed that  They keep sinning till Jesus returns. And Paul is showing that through Jesus (The Holy Spirit) we will get power over sin. And Romans 8:7 Paul declared that the person who don't  keep God's Law is enemy of God. Please take your eyes from me, and put on Paul. I just used two verses of Romans 8, verse 4 and 7 to prove the whole world that Jesus dead on the cross didn't put an ends to God's Law. Dr. Derek do you think that Paul are contradicted himself? I think that we are on a friendly forum and open for everyone to prove their beliefs. I followed the Bible exactly how the Bible say the words in it. That's why I proved my believes Biblical. I am not asking for anybody changed their belief system. This is a debate between Christians. Dr. Derek it is hard when people see the truth and ignore it, just because they have years in their church or self owner of their church. I was born a Catholic, I have carried the statue of Mary on the street. For me the biggest denomination is the one of God. What I'm saying here is that I was 12-13 years, Now I'm 56. When God call me to come out, is the day I read the Bible for the first time.

I have one question for you Dr.Derek. Revelation 12:17. Can you write for me which people Satan is after?

        • As always Satan does not bother with the unbelievers, they are, or will be lost, Satan concentrates his efforts on those who profess Jesus as Saviour.  It is he who accuses Christians that they are not good enough or points out how many laws they have broken.  Although those laws are still in-force, breaking those laws no longer has a sentence of death, we are forgiven through Jesus paying the price for our sin through His death on the cross and defeating Satan by His resurrection.

  • I just received this little snippet this morning, which I thought applies here:

Romans 8:15-17: The true children of God are those who let God's Spirit lead them. The Spirit that we received is not a spirit that makes us slaves again and causes us to fear. The Spirit that we have makes us God's chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, "Abba, Father."

    [Romans 8:15-17]

15" For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him."

  • Hi. Follow me and you will see which church have all those characteristic Biblical.

    • Will that be your personal opinion Michel?  I think the one to follow is Jesus in reality.

      • No Dr. Derek, I say to follow me and he will seen with his own eyes who is the truth church of God. And that is the remnant church of Revelations 12:17 and 14:12. Ask me all questions and I will show the whole world BIBLICALLY all the TRUTH.

        • You do sound like you are setting yourself up as Lord and Saviour Michael.  As I said we are supposed to be following Jesus.  He is our life-model, He is our Saviour, He and He alone is the Way the Truth and the Life, no one else.

        • Brother Michel, are you speaking as yourself, or as Jesus? Perhaps this is a language issue (non-english speaking?), but you are coming across as saying that people should follow you -yourself- to see these things. Do you really mean to say that, brother, because that seems a little grandiose and setting yourself up as a Savior to me here. Can you clarify this for us?
