In all of God's word, there is the Commandment which is forgotten the most, and put out of the mind more often than any other in all of the Bible, and the devil has placed every distraction, every 'reason', and every thing, including the kitchen sink, to keep God's people from "Remember[ing]" it.
That Commandment, is the 4th Commandment:
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
This commandment begins with the very word "Remember" (zäkhôr; H2142 - זכור ), for God sees the end from the beginning, and the hearts of man turning away from Him.
The 'Christian' world, at large (though some exception) has forgotten God's word in this matter, and have put it aside as of no consequence. Many will choose their own day apart from God's own day, and others will say it doesn't matter any more, or give another excuse, but these types of attitude were not the attitude of Jesus, neither the disciples, neither of Paul, and others afterward.
In the last days, a message goes forward which will bring the final harvest of this earth's history:
Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
For many are worshipping in the last days, but it is the worship of confusion (Babylon), for notice how God sends the message to "worship him", which means that many that this message goes to are worshipping something/someone else other than Him, and He sends the reminder to "Remember", even quoting from the 4th Commandment itself, "made heaven, and earth, and the sea ...", and all that in them is, which is "the fountains of waters".
Many Christians, which claim to follow Jesus, have been duped into following another, and another's will for their lives. God winks at the ignorance, and in love sends truth and light, so that we may choose Him above another.
Jesus spoke of the Gospel and Kingdom, as likened unto a Sowing and Harvest in Matthew 13:1-33,36-43. In Matthew 24 & 28, we see the same Gospel going into all the world, "for a witness" (a demonstration of the victory in Christ Jesus over sin, a death to selfishness), as in Matthew 24:14, 28:18-20, which we find in the first angels message in Revelation 14:6 (which repeats what message was given in Revelation 10:1-11). Thus the 144000 thousand are seen in Revelation 14:1-5, just before these messages are given to the world, and they which preach this message, bring the harvest, for Jesus said:
Mat_13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
And thus in Revelation 14:6-12, we see three angels (3 messengers with a unified message) that are sowing the Gospel, while time lasts (Revlation 10:7, for soon it is to be "finished", and night cometh when no man can Gospel "work"), to bring the Harvest fortold, Revelation 14:13-20.
What are your reasons for disobedience to this explicit Commandment of God once you know? God gives time. God is patient, and God is long-suffering, but is not endlessly suffering, not endlessly pleading (Genesis 6:3; even as it was in the day of Noe..). Sin has a limit (James 1:15). God will give understanding and light to those who ask, but woe to those who knew their master's will and did not do it (Psalms 40:8) and fought against it (Acts 5:39).
How does the Bible define "sin"? See and ask John the beloved, 1 John 3:4. Ask Paul, Romans 7:7. Ask James, 2:11-12.
God is calling to His people to Remember him as the Creator, for without the Creator, there can be no Redemption, no Re-Creation. Without the Sanctifier, there can be no redeeming from corruption and unrighteousness to living in holiness and righteousness.
Many accept Jesus as the sacrifice, but not as their LORD, and have another in that place, but Jesus said:
Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
And He just quoted from the Ten Commandments:
Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
This is without question.
Jesus gave the example of the righteous sinless life:
1Jn_2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1Pe_2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
And how then did Jesus, the sinless, walk?
Luk 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
Luk 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Luk 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Luk 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
Luk 4:15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
Luk 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
Luk 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luk 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Do any have any excuse, whether they think thy can find one in scripture, to contradict those words? Do they think Paul will help them over into disobedience? Do they think John will or Peter, or even OT prophets? Do any think they can find any amount of 'reasoning' to contradict the pure example of Jesus, filled with the Holy Ghost, baptized even?
There is no excuse we can give. There is no place in scripture to negate what God has set in example, even from Genesis 2:1-3. There is no place in scripture which alters what God uttered out of His own mouth (Psalms 89:34) and wrote with His own finger (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 9:10; Luke 11:20; Matthew 12:28). It is written:
Act 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Act 14:15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
Act 14:16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
The 7th day is the Holy Sabbath of the LORD thy God. There is no other day like it.
Pro_18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
