Many years ago my wife and I ran a Couples Group in our house on a Saturday night, there were about six to eight couples, who, would watch Christian movies, share meals, worship and pray together, and on occasion would visit the local ice rink or other attraction.  One week one of our number told us she had cancer, we were led to pray for her.  We were all young Christians and just didn't know what we were doing, we had heard of 'laying on of hands' and three of us were led to lay hands on her.  I thought we prayed for her for about ten minutes, but when we stopped fifty minutes had passed.  When they did her pre-opp four days later, the hospital could not find any trace of the tumor.  More about that story later maybe.

WE knew nothing, WE could take no credit whatsoever, WE just gave every bit of the glory to God.  However what that incident did do for me was that it gave me a life long interest in healing.  Later I was the leader of the healing team of two churches we were members of, and I have seen such healing miracles that few fully comprehend.  I have previously run training courses in healing, not teaching people to heal, but showing people how they can become the conduit through which God heals.  I have no glib answers why God heals one and not another, and I have experienced healing my self and at other time I have experienced not being healed, but I know God always has a reason, a reason that fits His plan perfectly.

I hope that this group will remove some of the myths, dispel some of the fear, and misapprehensions that surround healing in our modern church.  Over time there will be a mass of material posted here, so I will ask those interested to be patient, much of the material will need to be rationalised for posting.  Also, PLEASE post your experiences with healing, we love to hear about the ways God heals, and we love to explore some of those reasons that healing does not take place.

I also would see this group as a resource, so there may be side issues that we can deal with together, and believe me when I say we never stop learning.  One more point before we start; there is NO magic formula, there is no hard and fast five-step-plan, everyone is different, and has a different relationship with God.  I certainly do not claim to know everything or have all of the answers.  Even if you disagree with anything, please express yourself here, because that helps me, and who knows, it may help others.

Bless you for reading this.

  • This past Sunday, I experienced the shock of talking with my daughter, who thinks I should not drive anymore. I guess I am at "that age." Further, she and her husband confronted his mother some time back about her driving, taking away her license and car keys, so they have that experience under their proverbial belts and are feeling empowered by that.

I informed my daughter that she would not be taking away either my keys or my car and that I would determine when I can no longer drive, not her, not my son, and not my husband unless I am in full consent. Although I understand why this has come up, none of these have ridden with me or near me while I have been driving, so yes, I was shocked.

Now, don't get me wrong: although it was my daughter who brought this up, she is the sweetest, most loving daughter even possible, and we get along well. She is tender, sweet, loving, and supportive, as is my son.

But this is a problem to me. Any suggestions and thoughts will be welcome, whether or not I agree with you.
    Thank you!
    • From personal experience, my mom (aged 85+) voluntarily decided to stop driving after she had a couple of negative experiences (e.g., getting lost driving to church). This is something you need to evaluate, based on your observation of your current driving skills and if/how they have diminished. Seek wisdom and peace of God as you ponder this, realizing God's plan for you is perfect.
  • Sometimes healing takes place on this earth, sometimes in heaven; God has a plan for each one of us, and that plan is perfect. I was recently asked if I performed faith healings as part of my counseling ministry. What I told that person was that I didn't do them as she was thinking, I do walk with people through those valleys. Back in my college days, there was a girl who prayed for healing of her eyesight, trusted God to do so, and threw away her glasses. While her faith was strong, God chose to not heal her eyes, and her father ended up getting her a new pair of glasses. Would appreciate hearing others' thoughts and experiences on this topic.
  • Dr Derek Blake has passed away and is with Jesus now. Anyone interested in leading the group, see Pastor Rolf.
  • I would really like to be a part of this group to learn but also to help those as well. I have been married to my husband for 21 years, we have been together almost 28. We have four sons. I have an enormous appetite for learning and hope that I may not only learn but hopefully also impart what I have learned over the years. Hope that this group will grow and become something more!
  • Welcome to the group Lynette, please read and digest and comment on anything here. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask or if you disagree, please start a discussion. I would also encourage you to share any insight or knowledge you have on the subject. I hope the group and the information will be of interest to you.
  • Welcome to the group James, please read the information on this group about healing, if you have questions, or observations, please post them. We are also interested in the experiences of others and any experiences you have had with healing, testimonies or praise.
  • Welcome to the Group Mary, there is a great deal of information within this group and I pray that it both blesses you and helps you, and maybe even inspires you to take ministry to another step. If you have any questions or observations please post them on the group. Bless you.
  • The issues I have presented here are of the utmost importance to what we are going to study and discuss here. Let us to continue to dig in the Word for answers. Let us cry out to the Lord to seek His mind concerning the things we will be discussing here.
  • Matthew 17:19-21: Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain , Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Recognising the Jezebel Spirit

12 Indicators of a Jezebel Spirit at Work People influenced by a spirit of Jezebel have fear issues of rejection. They control others so that they will not be hurt. Generally, there is a history of trauma or abuse. They target the headship. They offer free help to be their top assistant because they want their protection.  It hides from the leader’s view but manifests in front of others. They make commitments and promises quickly and use recommendations from others to impress others.…

These 10 rules will help you make emotions work for you, instead of against you.

A week ago the below article appeared in a magazine that arrives in my inbox every day, sometimes there are interesting articles and more often than not it's just the usual rubbish, fake news and who President Trump has fired today. However the below article I found quite interesting, even though it is from a secular sourse it contains many issues you would find in the Bible, and certainly for those of us who have achieved formal levels in counselling. Much of the advice to self here is often…

All Sin Has a Consequence

I have felt that I needed to post this for some time, and I now feel that the Spirit is twisting my arm to get it done.  There is such a need for healing in the body of Christ these days and many believe that God cannot heal, because we pray and pray without any result. Because of this they think it is God who has abandoned them or no longer cares about their sickness.  Nothing could be further from the truth. First we need to establish God’s will and plan for us, that He actually wants the…
