Tell Us About Yourself
I'm retired. Although I've been a Christian all my life, retirement has given me the time to really dig into more in depth studies of Christian doctrine, apologetics with a focus on "being ready to defend my faith" which I have been an absolute failure at.
I've been a Christian all my life, but had a period of backsliding in my late 40's and 50's. I had a renewal of faith several years ago listening to Joel Osteen preach on not letting the world take your joy away. I've been committed to bible study ever since. My teenage grandson lived with my wife and I for several months following the last hurricane. In a moment of intense discussion about his home schooling, I brought up committing his life to Jesus. He said to me, "what good will Jesus do me right now." I couldn't answer him. I felt so bad I started digging into Christian doctrine and apologetics to try to articulate an answer for myself so I could be ready to defend my faith as Peter calls us to do. I'm still working on it. We good to church regularly, but haven't found the closeness I've been looking for. Consequently, I've turned to the internet in search of finding some more intimate Christian interaction.
