  • The "mark" of the beast has been here a long time and is a counterfeit to the "mark" of the lamb (Rev. 7:3~~).  It has to do with proper beliefs and actions.  Are you owned by the Lamb, or are you owned by the beast?  There is no Sci-fi. aspect to it, nor is it a chip of any sort, although it would be evil to give in to getting some sort of chip in a wrist.  Why be a tagged animal?

  • To understand the bible, the first thing you have to get straight is TO WHOM it is addressed. It is like a letter addressed to your room mate: you can read it and learn from it, but when it commands to do something, you are not bound by that command because it was not addressed to you.

    Revelation 1:4 King James Version (KJV)

    John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

    All the named churches are Jewish synagogues. John is told to write to the angel of each church. Every synagogue had a mail clerk called "the messenger", Greek "angelos", and that is why it says to write unto the angel of the church.

    Second, Jesus returns to Earth twice, once FOR his saints and again WITH his saints. The intervening period is called "wedding supper of the lamb", and that is described in The Revelation to St. John (not "Revelations").

    Since The Revelation is addressed to Jews, it contains Jewish expressions and idioms which are quite meaningless unless you happen to have studied Jewish expressions and idioms. One of those is "the number of his name". Hebrew and Greek used letters for numbers, so any name or word had a definite numerical value which was the sum of its letters. The concept is totally meaningless in any other language, but it will have meaning when that occasion comes to pass.

    Bottom line: The only thing we can say for sure here is "I dunno!"

    Oh, and it has nothing to do with Christians, since we will all be in heaven at the wedding supper of the lamb while those adventures are going on down below.

  • Scripture does not say we should avoid the mark or that the mark can be avoided.

    It is already written to be so.
