Turn yet another page in this book of life

From cover to cover, Oh Lord You know

Each leaf so precious in Your sight

Every word written and every part shown

A display of Your wondrous glory

As pages are turned and life unfolds

The book at times become stained and frail

Covers get torn and taped together

Leafs fall out, get crumbled and stamped on

But the Author rewrites and makes new

A book laid bare before Your eyes

Concealing nothing inside or out

The cover, a masterpiece design

The pages revealing unfailing love

Each leaf, the Author's grace shines through

The Author's book restored, pages replaced

The cover beautiful and magnificent

The Leafs with words from the Authors heart

To be read as a love letter from the Father of life

Over and over and over again

  • This gives me pause and makes me think. I wonder just what my page looks like. I do not doubt the LORD or the Bible what I do doubt is myself, my faith. I love my LORD and SAVIOR, but do I do enough? Is there something I'm missing? I'm going to have to work harder for my LORD. Thank you Sister for giving me this pause to think.
    • "but do I do enough? Is there something I'm missing?"
It is not by works that we are saved, Terry, but by grace. This is one thing that people often miss, we do not NEED to do anything other than accept Jesus as our Saviour. What we do after that, we do through love, love of Him, and the love of others, for it is through that we obtain joy. I am reminded of the acronym for JOY:

      Jesus first,
      Others second
      Yourself last.

Your page Terry, will look exactly the same as mine; blank, because on that day of judgement when Satan points his accusing finger, and God looks up our name in the Book of Life, our sin will be washed away. Fear not, unless you sin against the Spirit and deny Him, you cannot loose your salvation - period.
    • Thank you so very much Brother Blake. Your words are not just kind but comforting as well. I know I should know this by now, but I have always been so full of self-doubt about everything. I am nothing if not honest to a fault, because I bear my soul to GOD and the world and in doing so to the world I often get hurt or unintentionally hurt others. I like the JOY piece because it explains how I feel. I feel in putting others always before myself, I am putting JESUS First because I am doing as HE would do.

Yes, this is very nice. The Holy Spirit comes out in your prose.

Thank you for posting this Jeannie, it very much sums up how God's word is relevant for every age and every part of our lives and in every situation. It's a great piece of literature one that I will remember.

I wrote this poem a little over a year ago. The Author is God and we are the book. The pages are our life. As The Father rewrites the pages and makes us new, this is a rebirth, born again, a recommitment or rededication to follow God, the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
