Tell Us About Yourself
My name is Joab Mwebya Wilbur. I am the senior pastor of Buikwe Full Gospel Church in Buikwe, Uganda Uganda East Africa. I am married to Proscovia Nalubanjwa and blessed by gifts of six children. My biological father passed away in the year 2000 (but I thank God for my mother, Janet Sentamu Kubeerwa who is still alive and a full-time minister in the church I belong to.
I was born in Buikwe village and I still live in Buikwe. I have never moved out of my country. My parents accepted Jesus as their savior when I was nine years old. In those days, we were undergoing terrible circumstances that included abject poverty, our family was too big yet our father’s income level was too low. For that reason, I didn’t get an opportunity to pursue further education. I thank God that despite the challenges I faced in my life, he has never made me regret. I joined the church Sunday school at Buikwe Full Gospel Church in 1986 the year in which my parents received salvation; that is where I grew up from until when I also confessed Jesus Christ as Lord into my salvation as a youth. We immediately started a youth ministry and ministered until I grew to full maturity in the same church. When I dropped out of school due to lack of school fees, I started working on petty and casual jobs like shoe shining and mending, making charcoal, fishing and digging. However, amidst all the challenges, I had strong love and faith in the Lord with all my heart and in October 2000 I enrolled into the community Bible School known as Trinity Bible School. After undergoing a year training in ministry, I was awarded a certificate. I was also appointed as one of the church elders of Buikwe Full Gospel Church until I became the senior pastor to-date.
