Leviticus 23:4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
Type & Anti-Type; Shadow and Reality/Substance
1 Corinthians 5:6 "...Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?"
1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
1 Corinthians 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Did Paul mean that we ought to keep the feasts in their types? No, for he clearly stated, to "keep the feast ... with sincerity and truth", which is the reality and substance, not in shadow and in type.
Some go to extremes and proclaim that Christians need to keep the feasts according to the type, and yet they will spiritualize some it in the fulfillment of Christ (and even use the wrong calendar, Hillel II rather than the Torah Karaite, which differs by about a mnth or 30 days, and so wrongly celebrate Yom Kippiur, or the Day of Atonement in September, rather than in the correct time, October), while others go to the opposite end and cast aside all recognition of the feasts as all being fulfilled at Calvary, which is also in error. Calvary only fulfilled the Passover, as Paul stated above in 1 Corinthians 5:7, and the fulfillment of firstfruits did not take place until three days later, the first [day] of the week, as Paul says here:
1 Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
And the fulfillment of Pentecost was not fulfilled until 50 days later from then, 7 sabbaths and a day:
Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Luk 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And when the "number" of 12 were again and their hearts in at-one-ment in the upper room, as the number on the breastplate of the High Priest, united together upon His heart, the Holy Ghost was poured out upon Christ Jesus above, in Heaven, inaugurating His High Preist hood and ministry of the sacrifice of Calvary, as it is written:
Hebrews 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
And so, likewise as Moses anointed Aaron with the oil upon the Head, thus the Father anointed Jesus in Heaven, to begin His priesthood, and as the oil ran down the head of Aaron, to his beard and finally down to his garments covering his body, the Holy Spirit went from the Head (Christ Jesus) down to the body on earth:
Psalms 133:1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Psalms 133:2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
Psalms 133:3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Exodus 29:7 Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him.
Leviticus 8:12 And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.
Even as we see:
Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,
Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Act 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
And there began the work of the High Priest Jesus, as He is seen walking amidst the 7 golden candlesticks of the Heavenly Sanctuary:
Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
Hebrews 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Revelation 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
As it is written:
Isaiah 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
It would not be until may years later (anti-typical "five months" (Pentecost (3rd) to Trumpets (7th)); Revelation 9:5,6,10, see also (type) Luke 1:5-20 (vs 24); (type) Genesis 7:24, 8:3) that the real Feast of Trumpets would sound, and it would be 10 day/years (Leviticus 23:23-32) from there (Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6) that the real day of Atonement began (Daniel 8:13-14,26; Revelation 10:6, 9:13-15, 14:6-7). Jsut as the Lamb was gathered on the 10th of Abib, and held for 3 1/2 days in the midst of the people, so too Christ, began his earthly ministry at about the age of 30 (Luke 3:23; as the requirements were to serve, Numbers 4), for 3 1/2 years, and was then put to death (Calvary, Passover).
We are right now in the real Day of Atonement, and judgment is ongoing now while the everlasting gospel goes forward, and continues until the close of probation, and begins with the house of God (Eze. 9), all those who have professed, beginning with those who died professing (Hebrews 9:27), and then soon will move to the living (Revelation 3:10, 17:12, the hour of the power of darkness):
Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Revelation 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Finally after all those things, the saints victorious, will wave the palms of victory, Tabernacles, Revelation 7:9, 14:14-20, 15:1-2.
There are things that Christian must do in this real Day of Atonement, and they are found written in Leviticus 16 and 23, for the real day of atonement is not as the type, a single day in the year, but is much greater having been going on for some time now (Daniel 12:12; Revelation 14:13, "blessed").
