Some of my Crocus flowers out back.  It has been suggest that the 'Rose of Sharon' was one of these rather than an actual rose or any of the other flowers called R. of Sharon.. The text in Song of Songs says 'Flower (habasellet) of the plain'., so it could be any flower I suppose..

  • Great shot Steve, supperb depth and detail.  It seems that this little flower can be found on almost every contiment of planet Earth, we certainly have them here in the UK and they are starting to bloom here as well as Asia as well.  Did you know that the word 'Crocus' is Latin for Saffron?  Of course that where we get the safrom from and it takes in excess of 70,000 flowers to yield just one pound (0.45 kilo) of saffron spice; wow!  No wonder Safron is so expensive.
