Walk in Prophecy!

This is from Worthy News Brief 1/9/18.

Walk in prophecy!

2 Kings 23:16-17 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words. Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.

This is an interesting passage of Scripture which details how Josiah, a young and Godly king, went forth to cleanse the land, and in doing so, finds that he was fulfilling a prophecy given years before. Josiah went forth doing what was right -- and in doing so, was walking out the works that God preordained for him -- he was fulfilling the calling that God had set into motion years before!

Each of us is alive for such a time as this, living in this day and hour, and all around us prophecy is being fulfilled. Quite honestly, the prophecies of these last days seem to be fulfilled faster than I anticipated -- but nevertheless, we are witnessing the signs all around us, and they are not so comforting.

So what is our mandate, our calling, our destiny for these days? Will we walk as Josiah, steadfast after God? Because in our day as well, there is prophecy spoken by Jesus himself concerning these last days in which we live: "because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." [Matthew 24:12] Josiah walked amidst incredible idolatry and sin in Israel, (just like we are now), but instead of catering or yielding to it, he used all the authority he had to tear it down. He was fearless in his hatred of sin because of his intense love for God. Jesus' words imply a specific calling for us in these last days: Don't allow your love to grow cold!

Sin abounds all around us, and maybe to some extent, IN us– but it's already written that we can triumph over it if we will just keep our love for him HOT! On the cross he won an astounding victory which we can claim and walk in each and every day of our lives! If we walk in his victory, we too can fulfill the prophetic words of the greatest prophet, because he did not say "the love of ALL will grow cold". So let us be those who fulfill this prophetic destiny the way King Josiah did. We CAN be the ones who keep that passion for God, even in these terrible times!

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Our Lord posed a question in Luke 18:8 ESV:  "I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

There's no question our Lord is returning. When He returns, how will we answer His question?

God bless,

  • There are so many people out there who are surprised when a prophecy is fulfilled.  People who claim to be Christian, and should know when a prophecy has been fulfilled, are stopped in their tracks.  I hunger in the Lord, and look forward to prophecy's that are fulfilled/bering fulfilled.  A sure sign that the return of our Lord Jesus Christ is closer than we think!

    • Yes indeed Eloise, you are right, however, as much as it surprises me, it does not do any harm to be in awe of God's prophesy.  A few years ago, using information from the scriptures, I calculated that the Lord would return somewhere between 2028 and 2036.  God did not tell Jesus what the date of His return was, because He didn't want to us to know the day, but there are many clues in prophesy.  We are lacking a solid base for the calculations, but I don't think it will happen for at least ten years, which I suspect will be at least the beginning of the seven years tribulation.

      • Gary and I feel it's close.

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. (Romans 13:11 ESVUK)

        Another great verse...

Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28 ESV)

Personal opinion, there should be signs along the way that will show us His return draws close.

        God bless,

  • You know Mary, I don't understand why believers are so surprised when prophesy is fulfilled.  It is not God being clever and looking into the future, or some believer being clever when God tells them something.  God exists eternally outside of our time, He just IS, the 'I Am', an omnipresent spiritual being who is in the past, present and future all at once.  That's what the word 'omnipresence' means, not just being everywhere at once, but every 'when' as well.  As such a prophesy from God is not speculative, it is a fact, God is seeing it in His 'now'.  Every prophesy, with the exception of those pertaining to our future, has been fully fulfilled in absolute detail.  God's prophesy is, what I call, 'future history', because to Him it has already happened.

We can then look forward to every prophesy regarding the end times and the return of our Saviour will be fulfilled in in detail, 80% of the prophesies of the past have been fulfilled, there is absolutely no reason to suppose that the remaining 20% will not also be fulfilled as accurately as the eighty.
